Prayer to fix a flaw of oneself
18. Introduction. A bad trend comes from imperfection of spirit, not from body. If vices came from matter we would be exempt from responsibility. Our advancement speed depends on our free will. To morally improve ourselves we need strengthening willpower.1
19. Prayer. My God! You have given me intelligence to distinguish good from evil. Thus, since I have realized something is bad I become liable if I surrender to it! Keep me from pride that prevents me to perceive my faults. Protect me from the evil spirits who push me to fall back on error!
Amongst my imperfections, I realize that I am particularly inclined toward [...]. My lacking willpower induces me to be defeated by this flaw.
You created me blameless because you are fair. Moreover, you endowed me with choice aptitude. So, following the wrong or correct pathway is a decision of mine, because I am free to decide my course.
My faults are imperfections that I have retained from previous existences. They comprise my original sin, from which I should free myself through willpower. I know I can overcome this challenge because I can always count on the good spirits' help.
So you, spiritual guides who watch over me, and especially you, my guardian angel, assist me to resist the evil suggestion! Help me replacing my vice with a virtue, so as to win the struggle against my flaw! Moral defects are barriers that separate me from God. Therefore, each shortcoming I remove means a step taken towards the Perfect One, who, with infinite mercy, granted me the opportunity of this incarnation for my advancement.
Good spirits, help me to avoid wasting my present life. When it pleases God taking me out from the Earth, may I leave this planet much more evolved than when I entered it.2
