Prayer for Christ-behalfed meetings
4. Wherever there are two or three people gathered in my name, I will be in their midst. (Matthew 18:20.)
5. Introduction. To get together, personally or not, in Jesus' behalf means to be spiritually connected aiming at a purpose of good. When love presides a meeting, Christ attends it, either he himself or represented by a high‐order spirit. The Lord stresses through his words the strength of fraternal unity. The greater or lesser number of reunion participants has little importance. Rather, it is the harmonious set of serious feelings which invites Jesus to join the conference. Therefore, even the smallest fraternal gathering, with just as few as two people, can count on the honor of his presence. In the other hand, when a lot of people pray each one on their own in a selfish way, even if they invoke Jesus, they will fail in attracting him because they lack the charitable thought communion. By the same token, if each one sees the other with prejudice, hatred, envy or jealousy, the fluidic currents of their thoughts will cause mutual repulsion instead of siblinghood. In such a conference, Christ might even has been the subject, but the participants’ inappropriate mental attitude deviates the group away from him.1 Jesus listens to all heartfelt requests, including the solitary ones. Notwithstanding, his words extol the love-to-neighbor principle, which can be felt better within a collaborative group than in isolation. If only two or three people in a large congregation are united through a true charitable feeling, while the others isolate themselves, or concentrate only on selfish or worldly subjects, Jesus will be with the former and not the latter. Therefore, the simultaneity of words, hymns and rituals, although beautiful and often impressive, is insufficient to guarantee the Lord's attendance. Instead, the sincere thought communion, in conformance with the charity principle, is the factor that pleases him. This should be the character of any serious Christian meeting in which the assistance of evolved spirits is sincerely desired.2 The purer the spirit is, the greater is its irradiation power. This is why the superior spirits can be in several gatherings at the same time. They do it by sending their thoughts to the groups.
6. Prayer. (At the meeting beginning.) Our God! Allow the good spirits to come here in order to guide us. Also, grant us the light necessary to distinguish truth from falsehood. Protect us from the evil influencers who want misleading us. If any of them comes here, prevent them from accessing our hearts. You entrusted the mediums the mission of communicating the holy teachings. Give them awareness of the serious task they are about to perform, so that they may have the necessary fervor and concentration to do so. Good spirits! Help us through your advice. Enable us to recognize your sane guidance. Keep us from any thought of selfishness, pride, envy or jealousy. Inspire us to be indulgent toward our fellow beings, present or absent, friendly or hostile. If someone in this gathering has come with a bad intention, then, our God, open their eyes to the light. Forgive them because we do forgive them. We especially ask the spirit of [name], our spiritual mentor, to preside this meeting.
7.
Prayer. (At the gathering end.). Our God! We thank you for the good spirits
you have sent here to enlighten us. As we leave this place, help us
to practice the teachings they have provided us. Allow their lessons
to guide also the hardened spirits who perhaps have attended this
meeting, for whom we beg your mercy. Strengthen us in the practice of
good and love toward our neighbors. 1- See chapter 27, item 9. 2- See chapter 10, items 7 and 8. See also chapter 27, items 2-4.
