||
Prayer for a newborn
53. Introduction. A spirit can only reach perfection after having passed through corporeal lives. Every fleshly existence offers opportunities for atonement, trial and mission. The advancement of a spirit and its future happiness depend on the way it employs its time in earthly life. From an early age children should be oriented towards virtue. A zealous moral education allows the future adults to better harness reincarnation. God entrusts the children's guidance to their parents and, to ease their duty, the Almighty made family love a law of Nature, the violation of which brings pain to the transgressor.
54. Prayer. (By the parents.) Spirit that has just reincarnated among us: welcome! Almighty God: we are grateful that you have entrusted us with this baby! We know parenthood is a sacred mission for which we will be held accountable. If this little being belongs to the new generation of good spirits that will populate the Earth, we thank you! If the baby still has a raw soul, we appreciate the confidence you has placed in us! We are aware we must help their evolution toward good through our guidance and righteous example. We know that if our child morally falls because of us, we will be responsible and therefore answerable to you. God, Support us in our task! If this child means a challenge to us, may your will be done! Anyway, give us strength and wisdom to help their conscience to advance as much as possible. Good spirits that will accompany our child during their earthly life: guide their steps! Give their soul strength to resist evil suggestion and courage to patiently endure their trials.1
55. (By anyone responsible for the child.) My God! You have entrusted me with one of your spirits. Allow me, Supreme Majesty, to be worthy of this honor. Grant me perseverance. Enlighten my mind so that I could perceive from an early age the inclinations of their soul.
56. (By friends and relatives.) Good God! You saw fit to allow this spirit to face the earthly challenge again. Grant this baby your blessing! Allow their soul to regenerate at the fountain of your teachings. Under the guidance of their guardian spirit, may their conscience to grow. May the words of Christ enlighten their mind during their future decisions. Finally, may this child learn to appreciate the full extent of your love, which allows the trials of life for development of our spirits. My God! Cast a paternal look at the family to whom you have entrusted this mission, so that they understand its importance. Allow good seeds to germinate in this being until the day when, by their own decision, their steps will follow you. Dear
God! Deign to answer this humble prayer which reminds us of
the
one who
says: “Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of
Heaven
belongs to those who are like them.”
So
be it! 1- See chapter 14, item 9.
