Prayer for the suffering spirits who ask for orisons 64. Introduction. By its mode of action, the prayer provides great consolation to the suffering spirits.1 Whoever prays fervently can be sure of good results. 65. Prayer. Merciful God! May your goodness extend to all spirits who ask for prayers, especially the spirit of [person's name]. Explain them their moral imperfections, which bind them to sad surroundings. Give them strength to persevere in their good intents! Superior spirits, whose only concern is to do good! Intercede for their consolation. Make a ray of hope shine upon them. Open their minds to repentance. Strengthen their desire to purify themselves in order to hasten their advancement. Make them understand that by their own efforts they can ease their future trials. May our humble words soften their sufferings, by showing them that there are people on the Earth who kindly think of them and wish them happiness. 66. (Another one.) My God! We ask that you pour out your blessings of love and mercy on all the suffering spirits, whether disembodied or incarnated. Have compassion on our weakness! Give us strength to resist evil. Provide us guidance to replace our bad tendencies with virtues! May your mercy extend over all those who are still tied to the wrong path and therefore prone to surrender to evil inclination. May your light shine on their eyes, so that, attracted by your life-giving warmth, they may kneel at your feet, humble, repentant and predisposed to learning. May your holy assistants embrace them all! My God! We also pray for our sisters and brothers who lack the strength to endure their earthly trials. You entrusted us with our life tasks. Therefore we must bravely carry them out. However, we are still weak spirits and we may thus lack courage. So, pity all your servants who fled the embodied life before they had completed the work they were assigned. May your mercy spare them! Allow the good Spirits to bring them relief, consolation and hope for the future. The prospect of forgiveness strengthens the repentant. Give this light, my God, to the desperate spirits who feel guilty. Sustained by such hope, they will be able to obtain the necessary strength to redeem their past, even the immensity of their mistakes, and to begin replacing their pain with the construction of a new future for them. ________________ 1 - See chapter 27 item 9 and item 18 onwards.
