Prayer for a newly-disembodied enemy

67. Introduction. Every major difficulty, whatever the cause, means a trial whose main purpose is the spiritual evolution, whether of those around us or ours. The God's will also manifests through the human action. Therefore the divine will also materializes through the problems that our foes create for us. But to take advantage of such obstacles we need interpreting the difficulty as a valuable learning opportunity. By viewing the problem as a challenge for our moral growth we become more likely to get from it the improvement of our spiritual qualities, such as resilience, self-mastery and forgiveness ability. Thus our enemies unwittingly act as if they were our spiritual trainers. We must pray for our adversaries, and our prayer must follow them beyond their tombs.1

68. Prayer. My God! You called the soul of [person's name] before mine. I forgive them all their evil deeds and intentions against me. May they repent now that they have left the physical world illusion. May your mercy extend over them. Take away from me any thought of rejoicing over their death. If I acted badly against them may they forgive me just as I forgive those who have been harming me.
