||
|
Prayer for a disembodied criminal 69. Introduction. Praying for those who do evil is also charity, and the less charitable a person is, the more such person needs charity in the form of prayer. One who refuses to pray for a criminal denies them charity, and misses an opportunity to act as instrument of God's goodness. Those who think that praying for a criminal is useless misunderstand the divine justice.1 70. Prayer. My God! We are aware of the perfection of your justice. However, we ask for you to welcome this criminal who has just left the Earth behind. If their heart remains hardened and unrepentant, remove the blindfold that still hides from them the severity of their wrongs. Else, may their repentance find favor before you. Almighty Judge! Relieve the suffering of their spirit! May our prayer and the intercession of the good spirits bring them hope and consolation! Inspire them with a desire to correct their mistakes in a new incarnation, and give them strength to overcome the new struggles they will have to undertake. Have pity on them! ___________________ 1 - See chapter 11, item 14.
