Prayer for repentant spirits
73. Introduction. Despite having achieved an important breakthrough through repentance, which in itself can mitigate anguish, the repentant spirits still suffer and often ask for prayers.
74. Prayer. My God! This spirit took pleasure in doing evil but now recognizes their mistakes and wants to enter the path of good. Deign to receive them as the prodigal son and have mercy on them! Good spirits! From now on that repentant spirit wants to hear from you. Let them glimpse the happiness of the righteous, so that they may be motivated to keep their good resolution. Give them strength to replace bad instinct with virtue. Spirit of [person's name]! We congratulate you on your change! Due to your repentance you began to experience an unknown joy. Hope has returned to your life! This is because God always listens to the prayer of the repentant and welcomes them. From now on, apply yourself more and more to replacing evil with the practice of charity. Strive especially to make amends for the wrong you have done. So, you will be aligning yourself with divine justice. One who enjoys harming others is morally ill and ignores how joyful it is to do good. But from the moment someone steps onto the good path, a light begins to shine for them. Doing the good erases past mistakes and replaces pain. You took your first step. The further you advance, the more pleasant the path will seem to you. Carry on! By persevering in doing the good, one day, on your own merit, you will be counted among the happy.
